Surrealism- Layered

Have you ever observed how things have layers to them. It is just a matter of range, and scale. What’s not evident doesn’t imply it doesn’t exist.Another dream of a beautiful evening sky, a palette of blues and greens, with undertones of greys and blacks. As I saw this, I felt an urge to go beyond this layer, and see what’s beneath. There is something enticing about the hidden. Tried sharing the same through a poem.

Unravel the mystery of the sky

The Lines

This beautiful sky above,

With shades of blue-

A stolen hue from the peacock’s feathers,

A grabbed tone from the nordic seas,

And a snatched tint from the crystals of Ceylon.

The greens look subdued,

But still asserting their presence,

With a mix of mountain jungles and the muddy water stains.

The greys and blacks,

Intrigue me a bit,

The manner in which,

They cast a spell of darkness,

Astounds my knowing,

And I become a seeker,

To move towards the unknown,

With the light of the known.

For the knower is always,

 In his incompleteness,

 Seeking beyond.

As I removed this layer,

I saw a path,

Grey and black,

Revealing the possibilities that exist,

Always, in different forms and layers,

The ones we ignore or overlook,

And miss the bewitching abundance,

This existence offers every moment.

SHADES OF SUMMER

Summers are the fiery times, Of the solar vivacity. But, the sky offers a powder blue relief, to the weary parched souls. There is always a chance, to balance life, the very contrasting energies.

Ever wondered how one associates seasons with colors and their innumerable tones?

And how these colors affect our moods and lives?

The answer lies in the understanding of this season-color relationship.

We mark this time of the year by the onset of summer, especially in the Asian part of the world. What summers reminds us of?

The hot blazing yellow sun, the clear powder blue sky, the barren amber land, and faded green foliage. Nature fills the exteriors with these shades of the spectrum.

Let’s fill the interiors with shades that bring out the cooling and soothing effect on our senses.

During summer, one wants to stay fresh in the interiors. To feel the coolness, one needs to get the walls colored the right way. Choose cooler tones such as the blue-greens and the purple-pinks. According to the size of the room/living space, one needs to select the right tone.

I will concentrate on shades of blue in this article.

For smaller rooms, we can use lighter tones closer to the white side of the tonal spectrum. Experiment with a shaded trail of lighter tones.

Here’s an example with the picture-

Summer color themes
  • Baby blue (more in quantity) and cyan.
  • A combination of these two colors can give a lively look to the room.
  • For furniture
  • Use faded algae blue or woody tones for furniture.
  • This gives an antique and a rustic look to the room.
  • Play with tints of silver, grey, and white.
  • The upholstery patterns can be-

a) Soft flowy curves,

b) Scanty monochrome geometric designs,

Faded tones of accents

c) Grey and black-colored embroidery,

d) or Silver sequin work.

A tint of deep color in the upholstery can add that punch and vibrancy to the entire room.

Apart from the walls, play with creams and blues (deeper tones) for the ceilings.

Compliment this with frosty n diffused lighting.

Browns, & whites- with the blues

Finally, you get a summer-ready niche for yourself.
Enjoy the calming and cooling effect with some country music, and classics by your side.
